Units of the Spalding Sheriffs Department, Spalding Regional Ems, Spalding Fire Department, and Emory Air Flight responded to the scene of a reported shooting victim at Cole’s Corner on Highway 16 at Brooks Road. Witnesses of the store stated that a Hispanic man entered the building bleeding profusely from what appeared was a shot gun wound in his face and leg. Upon arrival by Deputies of the Sheriffs Department, and Spalding Regional the decision was made to call in Emory Air Flight Helicopter Air Ambulance based at the Griffin Spalding Airport to air lift the victim to an Atlanta Hospital for treatment. A landing zone was established and the individual was air lifted. Sheriff Wendell Beam stated the individual was coherent and talking to medical personnel when he was taken to Atlanta. Sheriff Beam indicated the incident remains under investigation by the Spalding Sheriffs Department and more information is expected to be released later.
