On Tuesday, June 23, 2015 narcotics investigators from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Governors Task Force conducted special operations targeting marijuana growing operations in Monroe County using aerial surveillance.
As a result of this special operation, investigators were able to seize approximately 23,000 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of over 100 million dollars, according to the DEA.
Narcotic Investigators from the Bibb County Sheriffs Office, Butts County Sheriffs Office, Lamar County Sheriffs Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, Georgia Governors Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration were called in to assist Monroe County in seizing the thousands of marijuana plants found growing on a large plot of land off of Flint Road.
