A Griffin resident died in a one-vehicle accident Monday morning close to 5:30am at the intersection of South Hill and 8th Streets. Griffin Police and Griffin Fire Rescue units responded to the scene and located a late 90’s model Chevrolet pick-up truck in the wooded area adjacent to the intersection. Located inside the cab was 63-year old Stephen Ray Howard of 124 Loumae Road, who was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster advised that there did not appear to be any serious external injuries, so the body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy.
