Mark Daniel, who has been with the Towaliga circuit district attorney’s office since the circuit was formed in 1999 is retiring effective Nov. 1.

In the past 10 years alone, Daniel handled over 3000 defendants, tried over 30 cases and took in excess of 1500 guilty pleases. A career prosecutor, he represented the state for over 30 years.

“It is the passing of an era. I have a heavy heart. Mark is a steadfast supporter of this office, our communities and the state. He has always been a part of our office family and continued to have a place here, both now and in the future. I hate to see him go but I wish him well and hope that God watches over him and guides his path,” district attorney Jonathan Adams said.

Daniel plans to enter private practice and spend more time with his family.

Adams said he will announce his new chief assistant this week
