The new one million square foot Dollar General facility located on the Spalding-Butts County line is slated to open soon, according to Griffin-Spalding Development Authority Executive Director David Luckie.  Construction began around one year ago, and was projected to create a capital investment of $85 million to construct the distribution center.  Dollar General has experienced rapid store growth throughout the southeast, and anticipates the facility will aid in further growth.  Luckie advised WKEU that the state-of-the-art center is expected to open later this month or early October. Approximately 300 people will be employed initially, with another 200-plus to come. It is expected to serve more than 1000 stores in the southeast.
