Sheriff Darrell Dix administered a swearing in ceremony for recent  Spalding County Sheriffs Department graduates of the Georgia Police Academy in Forsyth.
The newly sworn in members of the Sheriff’s Office will be assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division to begin their Field Training program.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently under way with an investigation in relation to two Griffin Pl ice Officers that have been disciplined and demoted following an Internal Affairs investigation related to working off-duty jobs while on the clock with the city. The Griffin Police Department Public Information Officer Lieutenant Mike Natel has advised WKEU news that the officers have been demoted and disciplined.  At the time Curtis Keys was lieutenant with the department, and Dwayne Hancock was a sergeant, both are facing allegations of receiving funds while on duty, a violation of Griffin Police Department policies, also a violation of the department’s Code of Ethics, and a violation of oath of office. The GBI investigation is currently underway and pending the out come of that investigation the officers may face additional legal action. Any additional information is expected to be release by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
