Mr. Joe Westbury of Jackson

In Barnesville two of the existing funeral home operations Breedlove Memorial Chapel and Williams Funeral Home have been Purchased by Joe Westbury, owner of Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home in Jackson.

Westbury, 42, has spent 22 years in the funeral home business, most recently with Sherrell -Westbury in Jackson and Conner-Westbury in Griffin. He is a member of the board of the Georgia Board of Funeral Service, having been appointed by Governor Nathan Deal.

In a statement given to Walter Geiger of the Barnesville Herald Gazette, “I am buying the business of Williams and the business and location at Breedlove. We will operate under the name Williams-Westbury Funeral Home at the current Breedlove location. Westbury also added our chapel will continue to carry the Breedlove Memorial name,
We work about 100 calls a year in Jackson and Barnesville is about the same. I expect to spend a little more than half my time in Barnesville,”

Westbury also indicated, it is his understanding the Williams real estate on Rose Avenue is under contract and will be developed commercially. It is speculated that the location may be an O’Reilly Auto Parts and Burger King but nothing is yet official.
Special Thanks to Walter Geiger and the Barnesville Herald Gazette for their assistance in this news story.
