A felony chase on the North Expressway lead to the driver of the perused vehicle losing control and crashing into a wooded area just north of School Road on Wednesday afternoon about 4:30 pm. Sheriff Dix said that their were 4 injuries from the accident and one individual was air lifted by Emory Air Flight Based at the Griffin Spalding Airport when a hasty landing area was established on the North Expressway. Sheriff Dix said that it was a precaution due to head injuries of the individual, however the injured person was coherent and talking with EMS personnel. Chief Jamie Clark of the Spalding Fire Department said one trapped female had to be extracted from the vehicle by the Fire Department personnel. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee the area and was later captured by Deputies on old Highway 41 a shot time later.
Both lanes of the North expressway were closed and traffic. All north bound traffic was directed to old highway 41 until the investigation was complete. The investigation remains under investigation and more information is expected to be released later.
