During our Friday night broadcast of Griffin’s semifinal round win in the AAAA state football playoffs, we at WKEU AM-FM announced that we would look into the possibility of adding the Lamar County AA championship game to our broadcast scheduled for Saturday, December 14. However, after thinking the matter over, we have come to the conclusion that sometimes it is better to take a financial loss than to potentially jeopardize a longstanding friendship so we will abandon our plans to cover the AA final from the Georgia Dome.
WKEU AM-FM was granted broadcast permission by the official voice of Lamar County football, WBAF in Barnesville, to carry the game, but in the light of the fact that the station is owned by longtime friend Paul Pleoner we could not in good conscience broadcast the game knowing it could take away so much as a single listener from WBAF.
We regret any inconvenience our premature announcement may have caused and we sincerely hope you will join us on WKEU AM-FM, www.wkeuradio.com, or on your smart phone devices for every play of the AAAA state final this Saturday when the Bears tangle with Carrollton. The game, from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, is scheduled to begin at 5:30. Our broadcast, commencing with the Griffin Bears’ Tailgate Show, will be on the air to paint the scene for the contest beginning at 3:30.
