Keith Simmons named principal of Griffin High School

 

The Griffin-Spalding County Board of Education named Keith Simmons Principal of Griffin High School beginning July 1, 2010.

Keith Simmons will be coming from his current position as Principal of Monroe County Achievement Center. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Principal at Mary Persons High School and Westside High School. His other experience includes being administrative dean in two Florida high schools. He has been a special education teacher and dropout prevention teacher.

His bachelor’s degree is from Cumberland College and Master’s in Education Degree is from Barry University. He received his Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Walden University. Mr. Simmons has been chosen to participate in several Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement training events for educational leaders.

Dr. Curtis Jones, Superintendent of the Griffin-Spalding County School System, said, “We had an excellent pool of candidates for the Griffin High School principal position. It was clear that Mr. Simmons was the best applicant because of his skills, attributes, disposition, and leadership. We are very excited that he is joining us, and we’re looking forward to having him as the leader of Griffin High School.”
